okay so my original plan was to get all my orks done before school started(i liv in america).........WRONG. i was completely unable to finish the rest of my force. damn. So i decided to make a blog out of finishing it in here and this is it. right now i need to finish 1 mek stompa, 1 squiggoth(already WIP), 40 boyz, 6 deffkoptas, 1 battle wagon,1 looted wagon, 10 nobz, 10 burna boyz, 1 painboy, 1 mekboy and 2 warbosses! FUN!
plus i found this great stone tower terrain piece thats the size of the top of the bucket im useing for the stompa and its top comes off so im gunna make a replica of the starship enterprise main deck inside except with orks! so heres my drawings for the stompa: the whole thing is a face and the deth kannon comes out the nose hur hur.

First thing this needs is more supports. This looks like it's a box perched on top of a Vindicator. If the vindy drove off, the top would slide off and be left in the dust. Something connecting the tank body and the ork part is a must.

Next, the top compartment is way too smooth and curvy to be an orky creation. It needs more metal plates haphazardly bolted on to complete its orkification.

Also, be careful with the scale of the rivets. The shouldn't be as large as an ork fist. You can find different sized plastic rivets on some train modeling supply sites. They're usually pretty cheap, like $3 for 100.

You've got a decent frame here, it just needs more details and love (and dakka!).

And where are your drivers?

You should have a special rule wherein if you ram an enemy vehicle and cause no damage you re-roll because the thing proceeds to fall on top of the ramming target. (Tha fist of Gork in metal form!) Really, it's an excellent example of the violent madness that is Warhammer 40,000.

And for those not enjoying the Grim/Dark how about a "Not Grim/Dark blister". It could have patches of flowers and the pots of gold that are at the ends of rainbows. Maybe a few fairies on a stick so they look like they are flying past.
Honestly, it's better to wait for the warseer links to come over here, then you don't have to wade through the kiddies pool to find stuff.

sorry, had to laugh at warp then

all you need to do mainly is add some supports, and, as said, make it more orky.
get some plasticard, cut out some rough shapes and bolt them onto it.

can use the plasticard for making some supports too.

It seems that this comes up a lot lately, but I think you could do well with a few washes on those orks.
The one called Sepia is good for yellow if you want the color to have more depth.

Alternately, you could throw on some Ogryn Flesh, if you want to dirty the orks up a bit...

That´s a quick and effective way to add more detail to your models, I´ve found it to work wonders on larger areas of colors.

This is an estimation, but I think it would look about 563% better without the tupperware container. Or whatever that is. I presume the passengers are meant to go in there.

-Claps hands appreciatively-

Ooohh, I´ve never been Haiku´d before. Well not on Dakka at least...

Seriously though, washes are the best thing since sliced bread (which I think we all know is pretty awesome), they totally change what is possible to do to your mini´s.

comming n nicely now.

quick tip for assembling;
some models like the new black reach ones use pins on thier arms, its worth cutting 1/3 off of them before sticking them on, this prevents them from not connecting 100%

You still haven't Hoss. BTW, thatthing, a haiku is a 3 line poem with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third.

But literary foibles aside, a quick question after an observation. You painting needs quite a bit of cleanup. Even with just basecoats, your minis would look a lot better if you kept the paint "in the lines," so to speak. Concentrate on making sure the colors don't spill into adjacent bits. So basically, no bleached bone on the ork skin parts, no yellow from the armor plates on the pants, etc. Also, yellow takes a couple coats at least before the primer isn't showing through.

So the question is: how large of a brush do you paint with?

I'm a bit of a hobby snob myself so take from this what you will:

By putting a great deal of effort into a conversion and then saying that you don't plan on taking the time to paint it well you are destroying all of the hard work you have done. Since you don't enjoy painting I would suggest paying someone else to do it. If you don't want to do that and you still plan on not giving the paintjob the attention it deserves I would suggest not spending so much time on the model since the end result won't be great anyway.

I'm hoping that didn't sound too harsh. At least you plan on painting which is a huge step up from the travesty that is unpainted minis.

People Play with unpainted Minis? Not like the new thing they jus tbought, but whole armies? That's just strange to me. I'm new to 40k and I have been trying to get the painting down, but the paint section in this forum has great tips.
It isn't painting that's hard for me it's the patience to sit down and do it, but the way I see it is the more my I put into it now, the easier it'll get because I'll just get better. Or I will play with unpainted armies, just kidding.

With the pictures above, I noticed you're using yellow. I am too using yellow, I'm doing a Honey bee theme to my Tyranids, and I find yellow is hard to go over darker colors. That is why I used a white primer. What color Primer are you using? I can't do too much talking because the stuff I did isn't much better if at all.

If you smell bad, take a shower before playing me. I hate when people devote too much time to something that they can't even shower.

Please invest in some washes, your orks would look (as said before 563% better with even one wash layer on them.

Right now, with the paintjobs that are on them, it makes me think 'So what?' about your modelling work, as you obviously aren't putting that much effort in to try and finish them.

Washes + little more time = waaaaay better looking orks.

I play:

- ~5,000 points
~12,000 points
~15,000 points
~2,500 points
